Hello, and welcome to Beyond Two Worlds. I’m Marijane, a Taiwanese-American adoptee. I enjoy writing, music, drawing, painting, and training others on issues related to intercountry and transracial adoption, complex developmental trauma, racial identity, and the healing process.
I created this blog in January 2010 after setting out to find my birthfamily in Taipei, Taiwan. I had never imagined searching for my birthfamily until an event occurred that changed the course of my life. After three years of searching and the support of a Taiwanese social worker, I reunited with my first family in Taipei during the Lunar New Year of 2012. If you’d like to read about my adoption story, please check out my book, Beyond Two Worlds: A Taiwanese-American Adoptee’s Memoir & Search for Identity. If you’re visiting for the first time, I recommend starting here then continue reading from oldest to newest post.
I’m thrilled that this blog has evolved into a platform for all members of the adoption constellation to connect and share information, resources, and life experiences. I welcome your thoughts and comments. To contact me, please go to the Contacts link located on the Home Page. Thanks for stopping by.
