Hello, and welcome to Beyond Two Worlds. My name is Marijane, and I’m a Taiwanese-American adoptee, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, TBRI® educator and Board-Certified Music Therapist. I enjoy writing, music, drawing/painting and educating/training others on issues related to intercountry and transracial adoption, complex developmental trauma, racial identity, and the healing process. I’m also currently training in trauma-informed equine-assisted psychotherapy (TF-EAP), which I’m thrilled about!
I created this blog in January 2010 when I first began searching for my birthfamily in Taipei, Taiwan. I had no idea how my search would go. After three years of searching and the help of a Taiwanese social worker, I reunited with my birthfamily in Taipei. If you’d like to read about my adoption story, check out my book, Beyond Two Worlds: A Taiwanese-American Adoptee’s Memoir & Search for Identity. If you’re visiting for the first time, I recommend starting here then continue reading from oldest to newest post.
I’m thrilled that this blog has evolved into a platform for adoptees to connect and share information, resources and life experiences. All voices are welcome; however, please be aware that others viewing this blog may hold views and opinions that are not aligned with yours. This blog is first and foremost a space for adoptees. As such, any remarks deemed disrespectful of the lived experience of adoptees will be promptly removed.
